Planned itinerary

When ?

When we decided to go on a road trip, we had to agree first on the time of the year and the duration. We excluded winter quite quickly (afraid of the cold ? No…). Therefore, we had 8 months left for our project. We thought it was reasonnable et so that was the start point.

The main point who guided our decision was obvioulsy the weather : trying to be in the south for the spring and the fall, and in the north in the summer (no, no, I can assure you, we’re still not scared of the cold).

Where ?

From there, we were able to define a round trip going through twenty countries. It seemed quite a lot but we wanted the make the most of ot and some destinations were mandatory in our minds. We eliminated some with regrets (Denmark and Norway, we’ll come another time, I promise). Choices had to be made.

Little story but you’re not allowed to make fun of us!
On our first itinerary, we completely forgot the month of May. We had to do it all over again but it allowed us to add a few other countries like Spain, Portugal or Greece (youhouh!! 😉 )

Anyway, nothing is set in stone. Except our reservation for the Shuttle to England, all our bookings are flexible and can be modified or cancelled. We really want to let us some freedom, no rush, no stress.

We are well aware that even if we planned a great itinerary, a lot of variables that we can’t predict might change everything.

What budget ?

As you can imagine, the budget was also an important element in our choices :

  • Distance to drive
  • Cost of living
  • Duration
  • Activities / Visits
